We are glad you found us!

Our family owned and operated coffee roasting business, established in 2011, provides ethically sourced coffees from around the world straight to you! We use small batch roasting in order to better control the quality of different beans and bring a product to market that we are proud of and that you can feel good about.

The name Batteaux was inspired by the river boats that were used to bring products from farmers and producers along the James River into the community for sale. It is our desire to bring the products we produce with open hands and hearts, intent on building relationships with those around us.

Our Roots

We are a somewhat nomadic crew who enjoy sitting around campfires and sharing life with friends. This lifestyle has led us to different countries all over the world where we have seen the way coffee brings people together and can be used as a bridge where differences can be set aside and commonalities can be discovered. We hope that as you enjoy our carefully crafted products you will also allow space to slow down and experience the world around you. Whether it is a quiet morning on the deck or a group of folks around a fire, we invite you to join us.

Our coffee:

Light Roast - We cycle in coffee from different regions for this one. Currently it’s an Ethiopian Yirgacheffe with bright notes, floral character, and a lighter mouthfeel.

Medium Roast - This is a standout among Columbian coffees. Medium bodied, moderate acidity, and notes of dark chocolate define this cup.

Dark Roast - This is blend of high grown Guatemalan Antigua with its bold flavor and heavy body mixed with the hints of tobacco and leather from Sumatra.

Decaf - High grown, water processed, from the high growing regions of Columbia. We emphasize quality on all our roasts, and it shows here as well.
